Hi there! I’m Margeaux!
I was born and raised in Southern California and grew up surfing (in a surfer family). I got introduced to ‘hair’ before I was even 10 years old as my older brother went to Cosmetology school, and I turned in to his living mannequin head. While being a traveling competitive surfer I worked at a hair salon and was doing lots of DIY punk hair which lead to my decision to focus myself and my time toward following my brother’s footsteps and attended Cosmetology School at the age of 17. The rest is history…
I specialize in cutting hair with a straight razor + scissors for effortless, soft, and natural cool girl hair. I study your features and create or customize a look that’s tailored to you by observing your head+face shape, your growth patterns, your texture & your lifestyle, as well as taking in to consideration how you want to express yourself with your hair. I always feel gratitude and honor to be able to collaborate in creating or maintaining a vision you may have or discover for yourself. The power of a haircut is real.
Coming from Long Beach, CA as an established haircutter, independent educator, and co-owner at Salon Wire with my brother Chris, I chose a new journey and in spring of 2023 we wrapped up Salon Wire (an eco friendly, low toxin, clean air boutique hair salon and multi use creative space) as a beautiful project we shared with the community of clients, stylists, educators and local makers. As I turned the page, my partner Cole, our two dogs (Mustard + Walter) and I moved out to Lexington, Kentucky.
In pursuit of balance I decided to step away from small business ownership and join up with the Nashville based salon Local Honey. In partnership, we opened a beautiful location in Lexington KY as I took the role of Creative Director, designer and lead educator. I wrapped up my one year with the team and chose to resign from my role and solely focus on my haircut offerings and Razor Sessions -Educational Workshops.
I have been doing hair for nearly 2 decades (you got it, I started young- being an expressive teenager and doing diy friends/family hair etc) and have been working in salons for 22 years this year. As well as working behind the chair, I spent a handful of years focusing my beauty offerings as a freelance hair and makeup artist for various musical artists and fashion brands creating looks for advertisements, commercials, look-books, lifestyle editorials and more. As I opened 2 hair salons back to back in Long Beach, CA I directed my energy and expertise to educating our community and stylists on cleaner and more eco friendly options as well as razor cutting, business building and more!
I am honored to say that I have had the opportunity to share my education and perspective with Hairstory’s Social Chat, GmReverie hosted by The Left Brain Group, Hairbrained Live , being featured on Mane Addicts and Beauty Launchpad. I also had the awesome opportunity to assist/host Jayne Matthew’s for creative days and virtual education classes as well as work alongside Jayne at Salon Wire for a couple years.
To stay well and move through the world in a way I can feel proud of, I have cultivated a daily self care practice of walking my dogs, meditation and yoga to expand my mindfulness which allows for me to be more present. I enjoy going to farmers markets to get ingredients for fresh meals and support local farmers and craftspeople by shopping direct and mindful. I also frequent yard sales, estate sales and flea markets to shop for sustainable/vintage goods. Cole and I also sell vintage clothing + accessories at flea markets all over the nation + online! You can shop our Ebay and/or follow us on our IG @shop.vintageblues !
I hope to meet you and connect some day whether it be for a haircut, a Razor Sessions, or at a flea market!
xoxo
